A HISTORIC village pub instantly recognisable to people who’ve never been there before will hold its first beer festival this weekend.
The Assheton Arms at Downham found TV fame as The Railwayman’s Arms, the heart of the fictional village of Ormston in the popular BBC drama series Born and Bred, filmed in and around Downham.
Now The Assheton is set to welcome a host of new visitors with its celebration of Lancashire and Yorkshire beers. It starts tonight (September 20th) with a five-course Black Sheep dinner tonight (Thursday) with all courses matched with a different Black Sheep beer.
Running until Sunday, the beer festival will be a showcase of guest draught beers, interesting bottled brews and with live music on Sunday afternoon.
