Two highly acclaimed rising stars of Northern Art have recently painted the “Brown Cow” in Clitheroe.
Liam Spencer, a rising star of the contemporary art scene whose work is regularly compared to and exhibited alongside LS Lowry, has done his first painting of Clitheroe.
As a Lancashire man, true to his name, he chose the subject of his first painting of Clitheroe to be The Brown Cow on Moor Lane.
Liam had not realised that Michael J. Ashcroft, who is about to exhibit at the Royal Institute of Oil painters in December, first painting of Clitheroe was also the Brown Cow, public house. Both paintings will be on show together at the Revolve Gallery, Clitheroe, from Thursday.
Owner Sophia Smith said: “Instead of buying a pint this Christmas, buy a painting of a pub. It will last a lifetime.”
The gallery is open from 10-30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. Private out-of-hours viewings are available by appointment. For more information visit www.revolvegallery.co.uk/artists/rob-hefferan
