A CHEQUE for £10,000 was handed over to the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment by Chatburn businesswoman Mandy Paul, who helped raise the money in memory of her nephew.

Mandy, of Hudson’s Ice Creams, along with family and friends, raised the funds for the regiment’s charity last year, with the first Bare All For the Dukes calendar.

Proceeds from the combat-themed calendar, put together in memory of Mandy’s nephew, 25-year-old Lance Corporal Jordan Bancroft, will help the families of soldiers killed or injured in Afghanistan.

Jordan, from Earby, died weeks before he was due to end his six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan. Photos for the 2012 calendar have now been taken, with many captured at Brickhouse Farm, Longsight Road, Langho, courtesy of Michael and Jean Higgins, who even loaned their 70-tonne chieftan tank for the shots.

“This time all of the family model on the calendar – cousins, aunties, it’s a real family affair,” Mandy explained.

“It took some persuasion to get them all in, but they eventually agreed.”

The models, whose ages range from 18 to 45, are photographed in combat-themed cheeky poses.

“I’m hoping to raise double the amount of our previous total with this new calendar,” added Mandy.
