Bollywood was the theme of an evening at Bashall Barn which raised £2,100 for the charity Women in Need.
Proceeds from the night, combined with fund-raising at an Indian Bazaar on the same day, and donations from Clitheroe Lions and Clitheroe Clover Club meant the total raised is just over £3,000 – the threshold needed to enter the charity into a Rotary matched funding scheme.
Organisers Sheila Bailey and Anne Geldard thank everyone who helped to make them such a success, in particular to Simon Barnes, Henk Van Heumen and staff at Bashall Barn for sponsoring and helping to organise the Bollywood evening. They would also like to thank Shanaz Hussain for her help with the Indian bazaar and to everyone who baked a cake, bought a ticket, sponsored artwork and donated raffle prizes.
Sheila said: “The success of events such as these depends on the support and goodwill of so many people and we count ourselves very lucky we have been able to rely on so much support. It is this which has made this fund-raising initiative so successful and we are very grateful to everyone concerned.”
