Veteran Glastonbury entertainer Rory Motion will visit the Ribble Valley Jazz Festival this year for an “early doors” performance at The Swan and Royal on Sunday May 4th at 6 pm.
Rory is a poet, comedian and singer/songwriter who has entertained Glastonbury audiences every year since 1989. His unique blend of wit and wisdom appeals to a wide range of generations and political leanings and he is a regular contributor to national radio as both a comedian and a poet on panel games and literature features.
The timing of this early doors gig means that audience members can progress to the day’s main evening concert, the Snake Davis Band, at The Grand.
This “Poetry meets Jazz” session has been organised by Valley Gigs and tickets are available from Clitheroe Books on Moor Lane priced at just £5. Valley Gigs has also organised the free Street Festival for Saturday May 3rd, when Castle Street will be closed to traffic and there will be live music performances from 11 am to 5 pm.
Details of the Street Festival programme are available at www.valleygigs.co.uk and www.rvjazzandblues.co.uk.
There are also ukulele workshops planned for adults and children on the Saturday morning! For more information about any of these events, call Denise on 01200 429450 or Penny on 01200 427297.
