Singing actor Nicholas Gunn is celebrating after winning a top regional stage award.
Nicholas (22), from Langho, was judged best leading male in a musical at this year’s National Operatic and Dramatic Association’s North-West awards.
He won his medal for his acclaimed portrayal of Bill Snibson, the cheeky Cockney leading man, in Blackburn Musical Theatre Company’s production of “Me and My Girl” at the Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn, in May last year.
Nicholas was up against 11 other finalists from the region at the awards ceremony, held at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester.
“I was over the moon just to be nominated for such an accolade, but to go to the event and come home a winner was a complete shock,” said Nicholas, who attended St Augustine’s RC High School, Billington, and went on to study A-levels at St Mary’s College, Blackburn.
Nicholas is signed with Langho-based entertainment agency Actual Music, who provide live music for weddings and corporate events.
His agent, Jamie Turner, said: “This is an excellent achievement for Nicholas and is thoroughly deserved following some show-stopping performances. He’s such a versatile performer.”
