The Rotary Club of Clitheroe held its annual carol service with civic dignitaries of both Ribble Valley and Clitheroe in attendance.
This traditional seasonal celebration was held at Trinity Methodist Church, the home of Clitheroe Foodbank, which was the beneficiary of the collection on the night.
Brookside Primary School Choir, well supported by their parents, added a magical children’s touch to the event.
Readings were given by the Mayor of Clitheroe, Coun. Kevin Horkin, the Deputy Mayoress of the Ribble Valley, Mrs Janette Ranson, foodbank manager Ruth Haldane and several Clitheroe Rotarians.
The Rev. Ian Humphreys gave a brief address on the real meaning of Christmas.
The collection of £250 was handed to the foodbank at a time when it will be under great pressure.
Coffee and mince pies, sponsored by the town’s Sainsbury’s, store were served after the service.
A spokesman for the Rotary Club of Clitheroe said it had been “a great night which included all levels of our community.”
