CHARITY stalwart Dave Gillibrand has raised £1,200 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust after completing the Cheshire Triathlon in May.

Dave, (63), of Sunnyside Avenue, Billington, was inspired to take part in the Nantwich-based triathlon by three-year-old Cystic Fibrosis sufferer Sophie Holgate.

She is the daughter of Andrea and Chris Holgate, of Neddy Lane, Billington, who are friends with Dave and his family.

Dave, who runs sporting activities for people with learning disabilities at Calderstones Hospital, Whalley, thanked everyone who had sponsored him during this latest challenge. The licensees of the Petre Arms pub, Langho, alone raised more than £200.

The money raised will help fund vital research into the debilitating illness.
