Pedigree sale draws eager bidders

FIFTEEN top quality pedigree heifers were forward at Gisburn Auction Mart's monthly Cogent pedigree show and sale.

In all 20 cattle were on offer and despite the good weather, buyers turned out in force to see show judge David Graveston pick a Smellows heifer from Jeremy Taylor as Champion. Giving 32 litres daily, she sold to David Coulthurst, of Goosnargh, at £2,280.

Simon Thompson, from Ribchester, sold a two-year-old Alfrag Juror Kendall heifer to Messrs Redmayne of Samlesbury for £2,100.

Top price went to R. G. Johnson and Sons, of Felliscliffe with a very fresh heifer giving 32 litres also selling to Messrs Redmayne at £2,320. Heifer calves made to £340.

Auctioneers were Richard Turner and Son.
