THE new man at the helm of the Rotary Club of Ribblesdale is Richard Dugdale.

Installed by outgoing president Edwin Gretton, Edwin thanked members for their support during his year and wished Richard every success.

This is the second time Rtn Dugdale has been installed, having last served as president in 1996. He thanked Mr Gretton for his work over the last year.

The new president's aims are to continue the work Rotary does in the local community and internationally and have fun. Recently, with member Jeff Cowling, he flew to India to help in the World Health Organisation's Polio Eradication scheme.

Mr Dugdale is also one of the leading members of the local service clubs who organise the town bonfire each year.

Since his retirement, his time has been occupied by helping others and cycling on his "penny farthing", and he has raised money through sponsored cycle rides on his road bike at home and abroad for the Life Education Centres which visit the local schools showing the young how to make healthier life choices. He is also a trustee of the organisation.

The Rotary Club of Ribblesdale meets on Mondays at the Moorcock Inn, Waddington, at 6 for 6-30 p.m. and is always keen to enrol new members of the local community. Contact any member for details, or ring the secretary on 427734.
