Grindleton woman dies following surgery

A RETIRED machinist from Grindleton collapsed and died at her home more than a month after surgery to repair a fractured hip.
An inquest was opened into the death of Jean Eleanor Green (78), of Stonehill Cottages, who fell on June 6th, fracturing her left hip.

Following surgery she spent time convalescing in Clitheroe Community Hospital and returned home on July 4th. She collapsed and died on July 10th.

A post-mortem has been carried out and the medical cause of death was given as pulmonary thromboli due to deep vein thrombosis as a result of immobility following hip replacement surgery.
