FIRE-FIGHTERS rushed to Waddington Fell after receiving reports of a fuel tanker catching fire.

The drama unfolded at 12-23 p.m. today near the Moorcock Inn, with four fire engines in attendance.

Fire-fighters reported that the flames were confined to the engine and cab of the tanker, with officers wearing breathing apparatus tackling the blaze and using foam to prevent it spreading.

Another vehicle from the fuel company was called to the scene and fuel from the tanker was decanted into it.
