A MAN in his 70s was rushed to hospital with series injuries after a car crash in Clitheroe.
The incident happened just after 12-30 p.m. when a Nissan Micra collided with a Land Rover Discovery at the junction on Pimlico Road and the Plimlico Link Road. The Micra ended up crashing into the level crossing lights.

The driver of the Micra was cut out by Lancashire Fire and Rescue and flown by air ambulance to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with serious injuries.

Sgt Pete Sculpher is investigating the collision and appealing for witnesses. He said: "I would appeal for anyone who saw the incident to contact us. At the moment we are still trying to establish exactly what happened.

"I have already spoken to a number of people who have been most helpful, but anyone with information should contact Blackburn police in 01254 51212."

The road was closed for three-and-a-half hours and re-opened shortly before 5 p.m.
