Whalley are still unbeaten and sit in third in the early Ribblesdale Cricket League table after an 147-run win at Earby on Saturday.

The visitors batted first and amassed a total of 219-7, Yogesh Takawale top scoring with 74 as he was well supported by Declan Bailey who made 43.

Fergus Bailey also chipped in with 25.

It looked like being a far more imposing total at one point but Nathan Taylforth took 5-38 to keep Whalley in check.

Any hopes Earby had of an impressive chase were soon extinguished however, as a shocking start saw them slip to 25-7 at one point.

As only three batsmen down the order reached double figures with some late resistance from Sam Parry (28 not out) seeing Earby eventually dismissed for a nearly respectable 72 as they were heavily beaten by 147 runs.

Fergus Bailey was the pick of the Whalley bowlers, taking 4-13 with Joshua McLean also picking up 3-22 and Richard Palmer 2-18 as the wickets were shared around the attack.

Whalley hosts Ribblesdale Wanderers in 20/20 action tomorrow night, Friday, before making the trip to Barnoldswick on Saturday.
