The Ribblesdale Youth League beat the Lancashire County League to win the final of the LCB Alan Wright Trophy at Euxton on Sunday.
The Ribblesdale League’s Under 12s won the toss and elected to bat, with a solid start between Harry Caton and Dan Barber, who was the first to fall for 17 runs with the score on 32.
Dan Wilson joined Caton and they batted very well against a strong bowling attack, with a stand of 83 taking the score to 115.
Wilson hit 54 off 87 balls, with the innings held together by a determined Caton, who reached 40 from 94 balls.
The innings closed on 136-3 off the allocated 40 overs.
The LCL started brightly in the run chase but lost wickets at regular intervals after good bowling from Joseph Ince (2-17) and Owen Elwood (4-15).
The main resistance came from Lancashire batsman Doyle, who opened the batting and was last man out for 52 at 106. Barber claimed 3-9 off 4 overs.
The squad was: Barber, Higginson, Woodall and Hoyle (Euxton), Birtwell-Jones (Clitheroe), Caton (Feniscowles), Bentham (Great Harwood), Ince and Elwood (Cherry Tree), Maher (Read), Stamford and Wilson (Ribblesdale Wanderers).
Coach Jason Rawson said: “We are delighted with the efforts of the team, who have performed way beyond our expectation to reach and win the final of such a prestigious trophy.
“Special thanks must go to all who gave their time to support the team and the parents for running the lads around.”
