Ribblesdale High School’s Under 13s girls won the cricket competition at Blackpool CC as part of the Lancashire Youth Games earlier this month.
Ribblesdale represented the Ribble Valley in the event against 10 schools who had won district competitions.
In the group phase, Ribblesdale played teams from Haslingden, Balshaws, Ormskirk, and St Christopher’s Hyndburn, winning three games, with their only defeat coming against Ormskirk by eight runs.
That earned a semi-final place against Burnley, where the locals triumphed by 32 runs, 59 runs to 27.
Ormskirk, national schools champions were the team to beat in the finals.
Ribblesdale fielded first, with some superb bowling from Martha Smith , Annabel Mayson, captain Kate Hopkins and Eve Whaling.
They finished their five overs with 12 runs, three wickets and two catches following a superb fielding display.
There followed outstanding batting from Annabel, Martha, Kate, Ella and Eve, the latter sealing victory by hitting a superb boundary with eight balls to go.
