Ribble Valley Raiders Cricket Club helped to shake off some of the pre-season cobwebs by staging a six-a-side cricket competitionin aid of The East Lancs Hospice.

Eighteen eager cricketers participated in the round robin competition against each other culminating in a closely contested final.

Raiders chairman Farouk Hussain said: “It’s great to see the boys and girls showing a competitive edge to their game even when they are simply competing against their friends. It has helped to get them thinking about their skills and in doing so helped to raise valuable funds for a very worthy cause.”

Sharon Crymble, the fund-raising manager for The East Lancs Hospice, was on hand to receive the cheque from the young cricketers.

She added,” I’d like to thank everyone at Ribble Valley Raiders and especially the youngsters for helping to raise vital funds which will help with the fantastic work that is done by our charity. We look forward to working closely with Ribble Valley Raiders in the future.”
