The Ribble Valley District Cricket Development Group held an awards evening at Clitheroe Cricket Club to celebrate the achievements of its young stars.
Overall, 17 prospects featured for Lancashire representative teams, the Ribble Valley ladies’ team – the Vipers – won the county’s six-a-side trophy, while the Under 13s and Under 15s were crowned Lancashire Cricket Partnership champions.
Read’s Harry Rickard was named Under 11s player of the year, Daniel Wilson (Longridge) was awarded the same accolade for the Under 13s while Clitheroe’s Sam Mulligan was recognised as the most outstanding player for the Under 15s. There were joint winners of the Vipers Players’ Player of the Year in Bex Sinton and Natalie Kaye of Longridge.
Pendle School were the winners of the Malcolm Blackburn Trophy and the Ribble Valley Cricket Primary School of the Year award for performances in the three local Kwik Cricket competitions. Ladies’ Batter of the Year: Martha Smith; Bowler of the Year: Kate Hopkins; Fielder of the Year: Nicole Harvey. Under 11s Batter of the Year: Harry Rickard; Bowler of the Year: Daniel Rawson; Fielder of the Year: Henry Procter. Under 13s Batter of the Year: Harvey Vause; Bowler of the Year: Daniel Wilson; Fielder of the Year: Josh Blackhurst. Under 15s Batter of the Year: George Stuart; Bowler of the Year: Jacob Procter; Fielder of the Year: Matty King.
