Read stayed on top of their group and on course for the semi-finals after overcoming Great Harwood by seven wickets.

Read’s bowlers were in scintillating form as they skittled their opponents out for just 74 runs, Brandon Scullard taking 5-8.

Read then wasted no time in knocking off the runs as they raced to a comfortable victory.

Clitheroe’s hopes of reaching the next round hang in the balance now after they were narrowly beaten by table-topping Settle.

Janaka Guneratne took two wickets as Clitheroe restricted Settle to 88-2 for their innings.

Jack Dewhurst and and Peter Dibb scored 25 and 24 respectively but it was not enough as Clitheroe lost by two runs.

Salesbury also came up short against Padiham in their Group 2 game.

Padiham posted a total of 135 in their 20 overs with Susantha Pradeep (3-26) the pick of the bowlers.

Jason Rawson (35), Pradeep (23) and Aneeq Hassan (27) all made good starts but the Ribchester Road side struggled to get their run-rate up and finished on 112-5.

On Friday, Clitheroe take on Ribblesdale Wanderers, Whalley are away to Settle and Read face Salesbury at home.
