Read CC to officially open new facilities

The official opening of Read Cricket Club’s new changing room and pavilion facilities will take place on Monday at 12-45 p.m.

Andrew Hayhurst, the Managing Director of the Lancashire Cricket Board will officiate at the opening ceremony.

The new changing rooms, showers, toilets and facilities for people with disabilities are all in accordance with ECB specifications.

Club committee member Howard Marks, said: “We have had wonderful support from the ECB (£99,999), the European Development Programme (£96,300), Sport England (£50,000), Ribble Valley Borough Council (£20,000) and the club members raised over £30,000. The total project cost has been nearly £300,000.

“We shall celebrate the opening of the facility with a Twenty20 match between a Women and Girls’ XI

against a Select Boys’ XI which will begin at 1-45 p.m.,followed by a Twenty20 match between Read CC and Padiham CC.”

Hayhurst, said: “The club has worked hard to raise the funds for the development. There is no doubt the grants will be a good investment.”
