SALESBURY have announced that they have retained the services of Sri Lankan professional Susantha Pradeep for the 2012 season.

Pradeep has impressed during his stay at Ribchester Road, smashing 797 runs and taking 47 wickets in his 17 appearances.

Skipper Jason Rawson said: “The committee are delighted that Susantha will be returning. He is a class act both on and off the field. He is a great competitor who plays with a smile on his face. We are hoping for some more positive results for the remainder of the season and it now allows the committee to make further plans for next season for both the junior and senior sections.”

However, an 87-run thrashing at the hands of league leaders Baxenden means Salesbury are only a point above bottom side Settle.

Pradeep claimed four wickas the hosts totalled 191. Peter Blackman top-scored for the visitors with 29 while Pradeep added 25 but Salesbury fell short.

• THE final week of the Clitheroe Midweek Cricket League ended disappointingly with rain deciding the final positions.

Chipping A took advantage of fine weather on Tuesday night to defeat Low Moor.

They made 110 all out with Daniel Wilkinson making 35. In reply Low Moor were all out for 55 as their own title ambitions were quashed.

Calderstones needed to beat Sabden to draw level at the top, but were beaten by the weather. The other games also fell to the weather, so Chipping A are champions.
