Tom and Victoria help England to gold

TWO locally-based athletes helped the England Mountain Running Team win gold at the Commonwealth Mountain Running Championships in Llanberis.

Tom Cornthwaite from Gisburn, and Victoria Wilkinson, who is now permanently based at Denise Park’s practice in Peel Street, Clitheroe, both ran excellent races to assist the team to the top step of the podium.

Tom finished seventh overall, coming in as England’s second counter, and Victoria fifth overall and fourth counter, helping the England team to a double win in both the Senior Men’s and Women’s race that ascended Moel Ellio out of the back of Llanberis.

The male and female teams were supported once more by Park, the England Team Physiotherapist, who not only works closely with Tom and Victoria, but also provided invaluable physiotherapy support throughout the three-day Commonwealth Mountain and Ultra Distance Championships.

Victoria is now working out of the Peel Street practice three days per week, enabling her to dedicate more time to both her athletics and her skills as a Sports Masseur.
