Ribble Valley netball ace Beth receives national award

Beth Tomlinson, a player and coach with Ribble Valley Netball Club, was honoured at England Netball’s National Goalden Globe Awards 2012 in Birmingham.

The awards are held yearly to celebrate and recognise volunteer achievements in netball.

Present at this event were both the England and Jamaican national netball squads and the England players presented the awards.

Beth took part in England Netball’s Pass on your Passion.

It is a programme which aims to recognise young volunteers and provide them with opportunities, ideas and rewards to help them on their leadership journey.

There are six stages in the programme, starting at 10 hours and going up to 400 hours, which have to be completed within a two-year timescale.

Beth has successfully completed over 400 hours and was invited to receive her trophy and certificate at this prestigious award ceremony held at the International Conference Centre in Birmingham.

Her 400 hours included coaching young girls from aged six years upwards, up to ladies back to netball groups.

She also spent many weekends travelling with Ribble Valley Netball Club to leagues and tournaments, where she would coach and umpire.

Included in her hours were five days qualifying as a UKCC level 2 coach and a further day as a C level umpire.
