MOORLAND School track star Harry Hartley is gearing up for a career in the world of Superbikes.

The 15-year-old speedster, from Worsthorne, has already tasted success on the track, winning several junior titles.

And next year will see Harry progress to the senior ranks, when he can ride the high-powered superbikes.

“I’ve always loved motorbikes – I was riding a mini-bike as a five-year-old.

“And I competed in my first championship three years later,” said Harry.

“My ambition now is to race Superbikes – I’d love to ride all over the world.”

The Year 11 Moorland student is already a highly rated prospect in the GP 125 class – the breeding ground for racing talent in the British Championship.

Having progressed through the ranks from British Minimoto Junior champion, winning the Aprilla Superteen Nitro Newcomer title, and competing in the Sunoco British 125 Championship, Harry looks to have a big future in the sport.

Harry, who practices at a special track in Leicestershire, added: “I’ve made good progress this year.

“And I’ve been on the podium a few times after several races.

“Certainly if you excel in the sport there’s a good living to be made out of it, and that’s what I want to do.”

Moorland School Headteacher Jonathan Harrison said: “Harry is a wonderful young man.

“He has a great confident, fun and warm character, which encapsulates the competitive spirit of Moorland School.”
