RIBBLE Valley Netball Club’s annual junior netball tournament at Accrington Academy was hailed as bigger and better than ever!
This year there was more clubs wanting to attend the tournament, with a record 123 over the weekend - something of a nice headache for tournament organiser Jane Moodie!
Local squads battled it out against those from Birmingham, Grangetown, Manchester and Blackpool, and in the final results, Ribble Valley fared well, with squads at Under 16,15,14 and 12 finishing runners-up.
This year saw a change of venue to Accrington Academy for this major event, and the Academy were tremendously supportive, with feedback from clubs very positive.
Parents from the club helped to run stalls, keep time and collated results and a huge thank goes to them, without whose support, and that of the team leaders and coaches, the tournament would not have been able to run so successfully - so much so, the tournament has attracted interest from a club from London for next year.
The week before , Ribble Valley girls had been in action again at the Chester Tournament.
The Under 12s lost in the semi-final to Tameside, with the Under 15s finishing runners-up to Bury.
Next weekend, it is the clubs annual trip to Pontin’s Prestayn for a netball tournament.
