Texas came to Langho when Mytton Fold Golf Club ran their pre-season Texas Scramble on a very damp Sunday.
Despite Spring having officially begun, it was a cool and moist start as the klaxon signalled the shotgun start at 10-30 a.m.
Played over just 16 holes, the winners were Doreen Hammond, Phil Hammond and Keith Fitzhenry with a score of 50.93, just ahead of Jim Bridge, Mick Bryan and Tony Cross (51.23).
Just scraping home in third spot were John Berry, Jean Havard and Steve Worrall whose 52.19 was just 0.01 of a point ahead of Denis Leaver, Nigel Fairhurst and Mick Kelbie.
At Whalley Golf Club, Colin T. Elliott won Saturdays competition with a very classy 31 points.
Colin played in a two ball with James Kennerley, who pushed him all the way but faded over the last few holes.
Trevor Thornber kept up his steady spell with another 28 points, placing him second.
Mike Fletcher popped up with a very good 27 points in third.
This has set up a great final round in the Jamie Hunt Order of merit, with T. Thornber first, ahead of C.T. Elliott, E. Gearat and J. Kennerley.
The final round will be played on March 14th.
