St Leonard’s, Langho entered two teams in the North West Schools’ Federation ski race at the weekend.

A total of 160 racers attended from primary and secondary schools from all over the Northwest including Lancaster, Manchester and Cheshire.

The A team were placed as top primary school in 2014 and were hoping to defend their title.

They managed to do this by winning the overall title of top primary school, finishing above many secondary schools in the process, and also picking up top mixed primary school team.

The team was Rebecca Heselton and Ellie Culshaw (both 11), Katelyn Doyle and Michell Dickenson (both aged 10).

Rebecca came third overall in the girls’ junior section and was sixth girl overall.

The B team had won best infant girls’ team in 2014, and secured best junior girls team in 2015.

The team, all aged seven, was Amelie Heselton, Lauren Doyle, Erin Lloyd and Abigail McGrath.

Thanks go to all the coaches who help out week in, week out, whatever the weather and St Leonard’s hope to be back to defend their title again next year - without the A team who will have moved on, three of them to the Ribblesdale School team, who have a very successful track record in Regional and National competitions, and, indeed, won the senior schools’ section.
