Clitheroe Golf Club Seniors got off to a flying start with a 7-5 win over Pleasington in their first fixture of the 2015 Ribble Valley Seniors’ Golf League played at Pleasington on Monday.

Seniors’ Captain Richard Crossley, partnered by Keith Allen, chalked up the first points of the day with an emphatic 5 and 4 win over their Pleasington counterparts, and further wins by Kenny Ward and Tom Poole, and the partnership of Trevor Jones and Geoff Sutcliffe put the visitors in a commanding position.

Pleasington hit back with two wins against Richard Baker and Swamy Narayana, and Brian Stokes and Peter Robinson, but a determined finish by Jeff Crowther and Ron Mason, who rescued a halved match after being dormie two down, saw Clitheroe through to a narrow victory.
