Clitheroe Golf Club’s young international Sophie Lamb culminated the Nations Cup at the Portuguese women’s amateur championship as the highest ranked England player.
In her first outing of the season, held at the Montado Golf Resort, the 18-year-old finished 21st in a highly competitive field, recording +7 for the 72 holes played.
The teenager, runner-up in the England Golf girls’ order of merit for 2015, and sixth on the women’s table, was joined by Gemma Clews and Inci Mehmet for the competition.
Her performance was rewarded with selection to represent her country in the Nations Cup at La Reserva in Spain, a four-day event which begins on February 24th.
Sophie now leaves for Florida on Saturday where she’ll compete in the ANNIKA Invitational tournament, a 54-hole event where the world’s best prospects go head-to-head.
She was runner-up in the competition in Sweden last year.
