Sophie named in England Golf team for Irish strokeplay

Clitheroe’s Sophie Lamb has been selected in one of the teams of women internationals named to represent England Golf in Nations Cup events at three forthcoming championships.

Sophie joins Gemma Clews of Cheshire to form the team in the Irish women’s stroke play at Dun Laoghaire Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

Clews, with India Clyburn of Lincolnshire and Hollie Muse of Lancashire, will then challenge in the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews on May 30th and 31st.

The reserve is Bethan Popel of Gloucestershire.

Meghan MacLaren of Northamptonshire,will team up with Clews and Clyburn in the British women’s championship at Portstewart Golf Club, Ireland, from June 9th–13th, when Lamb is the reserve.

Sophie successfully defended the girls’ title at the Fairhaven Trophies in 2014, and was in England’s winning teams at the girls’ Home Internationals for the last two years.
