Clitheroe’s Sophie Lamb is one of five players selected for the England team which will defend the Girls’ Home Internationals at Donabate in Ireland from August 6-8th.
The remaining three players will be picked on the final day of the English girls’ championships next week, on Thursday.
The whole team will fly out together to Ireland on Sunday, August 3rd.
England have won this tournament for the past six years and two of the selected players - Alison Hewson and Sophie - were in last year’s winning team.
The other three are India Clyburn, Inci Mehmet and Hollie Muse, and all five represented England in the recent European girls’ team championship.
Sophie, 16, successfully defended the girls’ title at the Fairhaven Trophies this year, and was third overall in the mixed field. She was leading points scorer in England’s winning team at the 2013 Girls’ Home Internationals.
