Senator come out on top at company day at Clitheroe Golf Club

Glorious weather greeted the 80 competitors in the annual Company Golf Day hosted by Clitheroe Golf Club on Friday.

The winning team, representing the Senator Group, were Colin Mustoe, Brian Martin, Robert Mustoe and Hadrian Thorne.

Robert Billington’s steady round of 82-10-72 on Saturday, to add to his nett 68 from the previous week, saw him win the 36-hole Tom Morris Trophy.

Wednesday’s Midweek Medal was won by Peter Pedder with a score of 81-12-69.

Val Fairless won Division One of a Ladies’ Two Division Midweek Medal with 34 points, the Division Two winner being Janette Ranson with 35 points.

The winner of a Ladies’ EWGA Medal on Thursday was Lady Captain Pat Rees, with a score of 97-28-69.

A 36-hole Medal competition on Thursday saw Lancashire Senior Ladies’ champion Chris Stokes put together rounds of 75 and 82 to win the gross prize, with Carolyn Blockeel taking the net prize with her rounds of 97-18-79 and 95-18-77.

• At Whalley on Saturday, Adam Dennis won the monthly Stableford competition with 39 points and twas also Division 2 winner.

Nick Jefferson’s 37 points won Division 1 after cards.

Wendy Green’s 93-30-63 won the EG medal and Longworth Cup second qualifying round.

Caroline Davey won the stable ford with 24 points.

• The ELGA Handicap Trophy at Mytton Fold on Saturday was won by for Stonyhurst Park with a nett score of 308. They were represented by Jim Walker, John Simpson, Graham Monk and Dan Whalley.

The best Individual Nett was Lee McMahon (Darwen GC) 79-11=68.
