Ribble Valley athletes impress

RIBBLE Valley athletes had an amazing weekend for Hyndburn AC at the Lancashire AA and Lancashire Schools’ Combined Events Championships at Wilson’s, Clayton-le-Moors.

In his first multi-events competition, Chatburn’s Boo Waller, a pupil at Grindleton C of E Primary School, won gold in the Lancashire AA Under 13 Boys’ Pentathlon with an unassailable 862 points from the 75m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot, Long Jump and 800m.

Westholme pupil Lois McTiffin, from Grindleton, just missed out by two points on emulating Boo’s success and took silver in the Under 11 Girls’ Quadrathon. Lois, aged nine, completed the 60m, Long Jump, Javelin and 600m.

In the Boys’ Under 11 Quadrathon, Jack Hutchinson, also from Grindleton, took home a well-deserved bronze.

The Ofoluwa family took home two bronze medals as Louis claimed a bronze in the Under 17 Boys’ Lancashire AA Championships and also in the Lancashire Schools’ Intermediate Boys’ competition.

Bowland High School pupil Louis completed the gruelling eight events of Long Jump, Discus, Javelin, 400m, 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Putt and 1,500m over the two days.

And in the Under 13 Lancashire Schools’ Miniathlon Competition - 60m, Shot, Long Jump - sister Elle Ofoluwa, a pupil at Grindleton C of E Primary School, took a bronze.
