Waddington Red are two points clear at the top of the Dorothy Southworth Indoor Bowling League as the season reaches halfway.
They took full advantage of Sabden’s free week to take maximum points against Hurst Green and overtake the longtime leaders.
The newly-formed league, played at Clitheroe’s Roefield Leisure Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays, has attracted almost a hundred players in the first eight weeks.
Centre manager David Potts has been delighted with the success of the new venture and plans are already in hand to look at the possibility of extending the league to accommodate other clubs that have indicated interest in entering teams for next season.
The latest round saw the other Waddington team, the Blues, almost made it a maximum double against Longridge, while Read and West Bradford both scored maximum points with convincing wins over Clitheroe White and Clitheroe Blue respectively.
