YOUNG swimmers representing Clitheroe Dolphins are proof that practice makes perfect.

The Ribble Valley racers scooped second spot in Leyland at Ormskirk’s home gala after spending hours in training focussing on starts, turns, finishes and relay handovers.

The Dolphins finished with 120 points, with 11 victories, behind the hosts who had accumulated 142 points, while Blackburn and Garstang’s afternoon culminated in third and fourth respectively.

Winners: Girls’ Individual: 25m breaststroke, Maisie Donald (9); 50m backstroke, Ellie Taylor (11). Boys’ Individual: 50m backstroke, Joseph Kenny (11); 50m backstroke, Patrick Enion (10); 50m freestyle, Harvey Haworth (10 and 11); 25m butterfly, Elliott Norman (10); 50m breaststroke, Henry Gibson (11). Boys’ Team: 10 years Medley relay (Patrick Enion, Harvey Griffin, Elliot Norman, Alasdair Moir); 11 years freestyle relay: (Joseph Kenny, Henry Gibson, Iwan Timmins, Harvey Haworth); 11 years Medley relay: (Joseph Kenny, Henry Gibson, Iwan Timmins, Harvey Haworth).
