Promising youngster Morgan Swords is making big strides in the rugby world.

The 15-year-old captains Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and Preston Grasshoppers Under 15s, and has recently earned county recognition following trials for Lancashire.

Morgan has also been scouted by Sale Sharks and plays and trains with their Under 15 development squad.

Rugby is in the blood - father Michael played for Hoppers and Orrell, and took Morgan to his first international, aged 10 months, at the Rugby World Cup in Wales in 1999!

He started to play as an Under 6 at Preston, moving from tag rugby to full contact, and has now captained the club for the last three seasons at Under 13, 14 and 15 level.

And on Sunday he was in action as he helped Hoppers reach the Blacksticks Blue Junior Challenge Cup Final, winning 31-24 at Sefton to earn a shot against Manchester at Fylde.

Morgan’s busy schedule continues this Sunday as he pulls on the county jersey for their Roses clash with Yorkshire at Sedgley Park.
