In Clitheroe Golf Club’s Fourball Betterball on Saturday Ralph Postlethwaite and Simon Raine made their run too late as the duo lost out on cards to two other pairings on the same 43 total.

Kieron Hunt finished off his round with three points on the 18th to take the first prize with playing partner Nigel Clowes .

John Holden and Michael Powell came second.

The Steve Ackers/Clive Wood partnership produced a solid 42 points to claim fourth place.

Competition chairman Jeff Crowther only dropped three shots on the front nine to post a winning 79-12-67 to win the Midweek Medal.

Stephen Laws only double bogey, in his round,on the 18th, left him one shot off the top with a creditable nett 68 and gave him the edge over Peter Catlow after a card play-off on the same mark.

Denis Greenup shot the lowest gross of the day with his 74-4-70.

Helen Maginn had the right prescription for the Ladies Midweek Stableford as a cracking run of 2 under for the last seven put her in pole position with 36 points. Emma Clegg took second prize and Sharon Turner was two shots away in third.

Catherine Podevyn had the day’s highest score to take Division Two with 38 points.
