Clitheroe’s Sophie Lamb recorded a fourth place finish in the English women’s amateur championship at West Lancashire Golf Club.
The 18-year-old, who was tied with Delamere Forest Golf Club’s Gemma Clews at the end of the competition, had led the field heading in to the final 36 holes alongside Kent’s Cloe Frankish and Surrey’s Lizzie Prior.
The talented teenager had only dropped shots on two holes at the halfway point, with a bogey on nine and a double on the 16th, in an impressive spell of golf.
She recorded the best scores in rounds one and three, finishing two under par in both.
Lamb culminated the 72-hole tournament, eventually won by Samantha Giles (one-under par), just three shots behind the champion.
