Last Thursday the ladies of Whalley competed in an EG Medal and Hi-Task Competition.

The winner of the medal round was Lady Captain Sally Blenkinship with 103-27-76, from Joan Whittaker (94-17-77) and June Walmsley (113-36-77).

The overall winners of the two rounds of the Hi-Task were Karen Thompson with gross scores of 99 and 94 and Lady Captain with nett scores of 76 and 80.

The Frank Longworth Trophy was won by Kevin Moore, who came in with a fine nett 67, winning by four shots. Second place in Division One went to Chris Davies’ 71, with third place going to Bob Devine with a steady 73.

Division Two winner was Jeremy Wade (73) from J. Lomax (73), with Richard Ferley’s 74 beating Bill Banks on a card play-off.

Sunday was the Herbie Sloan Trophy, sponsored by John and Betty Rostron.

Mike Seery and Joyce Andrews won from Bruce Craig and Agnes Seery, with Ed Gierat and Joan Whittaker third.

The Greensomes final was concluded, with Roy Ellis and James Kennerley beating John Sherry and Chris Blackadder 3 and 2.

This was a great bounce back by Roy after an epic singles semi-final against Arron Ripley, which ended on the 21st hole, Arron now plays Dan Rodgers in the match play final.

• Wilpshire Golf Club held the Club Scratch and Handicap Brooches competitions.

Scratch winner was E. Stebbings (gross 80), ahead of runner-up A. Alcock (gross 95).

Handicap Brooches winner was P. Davison (100-22-78) from F. Bristow (102-21-81).
