It looked like just another day at the office for 14 handicapper Kieron Hunt when he covered the first nine holes in a nine over par 44.

But the back nine told a different story when six pars, a birdie and only two dropped shots helped him storm back to the clubhouse in 37 to record the winning score in the Peter Geddes Memorial Trophy at Clitheroe Golf Club on Saturday with an 81-14-67.

With birdies at 16 and 17, Tommy Poole only needed to par the last to better Kieron’s score but a dropped shot put paid to his chances as did a bogey 6 at the 18th for John Braithwaite who took the third best nett prize.

The Divisional prizes went to Colin Barker (Division One), Nick Brice (Division Two) and Phil Snape (Division Three).

Sunday’s Medal was won by Kevan Abrahams with a score of a score of 94-24-70 with Nigel Clowes in second place on 78-7-71.

Fresh from his triumph in the Open Qualifier at Glasgow Gailes, Mark Young teamed up with Clitheroe Golf Club members Chris Silverwood, Paul Woods and Rob Hilton to win the Clitheroe Cricket Club Golf Day last Friday with a team score of 90 points.

The Senior team’s hopes of a first ever Ribble Valley Seniors’ league Championship title received a setback at Leyland Golf Club last week with a 10-2 defeat, allowing rivals Shaw Hill Golf Club to take top spot for the first time this season.

But a 12-0 win over Fleetwood on Monday has kept them in the race for the title.

Clitheroe face Shaw Hill in a crucial double header later this month which may well decide the destination of this year’s title.

Josh Connelly took the Junior Captain’s Prize by six clear shots with an impressive round of 83-19-64.

Louis Barrett was the runner up ith the low round of the day of 78-08-70 with Benjamin Dowds a further six shots away in third.

Sam Geddes was on top form in the third round of the Junior Summer Championship with an impressive score of 73-5-68, nine shots ahead of runner-up Josh Connelly.
