It was a busy weekend at Stonyhurst Park Golf Club. On Saturday, the Dorothy Harrison Texas Scramble was won by Judy Kitching, Linda Ashworth and Laura Cannan with 52 points.
On a card play off, the runners-up, on 51 points were Sue Kirk, Janice Bufton and Linda Hacking.
On Sunday, the Green Jacket was won by Bob Driver after cards with 73-13-66 from Graham Hinchcliffe (75-9-66), with Phil Snape, third, also after cards, with 89-22-67. Best Gross was Andrew Blockeel’s 75.
On Monday the ladies played a standard medal. In third place with 103-24-79 was Sue Kirk, runner-up was Jean Alcock (105-27-78), with the winner Janette Dowdy with 92-19-73.
Last Thursday at Whalley, the ladies competed for the Celia Porter Memorial Trophy, won by Shirley Palich with 39 points ahead of Karen Thompson with 38 and Anne Prior with 32.
It was Veteran’s Bowl day at Whalley on Saturday, won by Alan Strange’s nett 68, four under par.
Nearest to Alan was Don Blanch with a 70, last weeks winner John Jobes coming third with a one under par 71.
The Under 55s’ weekly medal saw Stephen Crossley’s 69 just beat Ben Graves on a card play-off. Third went to Tony Fowles’ nett 71.
The am/am competition, in memory of the late former Whalley chairman John Pollard, was won by Bill Banks, Anne Prior, Bruce Craig and Viv Birtwell with 95 points.
