The annual Barry Bolton 27-hole competition was held at Stonyhurst Park Golf Club last weekend, sponsored by retired green keeper Barry.

The format is full handicap strokeplay and four prizes are contested for on the day. The best nett last 9 was won by Barry’s son Ollie with 38-6-32, the best nett first 18 was won by Chris Thomas (92-26-66).

The best 27 hole gross was won by Steve Young with 119, and the main prize of the day, the best 27 hole nett, was won by Steve’s brother Andy Young (118-19.5-98.5).

The ladies had their medal competition on Monday with Laura Cannan third with 106-30-76, behind Janette Dowdy (92-18-74) and Linda Ashworth (86-13-73).

A Four Man Texas Scramble was the competition of the day at Whalley Golf Club.

First place went to Dad’s Army Team Captained by “Don’t Tell ‘Em Pike”! T. Pike, C. Rees, P. Wray and Captain Elect R. Lee, came in with a nett 59.1.

Second place with 59.5 went to S. Shoreman, C. Taylor, D. Rogers and G. Meakin.

The Singles Knockout is progressing along with P. Campbell going through after beating C.

T. Elliott on the first play-off hole by sinking a 25ft birdie.

Also through are D. Rogers, A. Ripley and T. Thornber.
