FOUR Clitheroe athletes have been helping putting Hyndburn Athletic Club back on the map.
Daniel Cowgill, Sarah Cowgill, Louis Ofoluwa and Alexa McTiffin all compete for the Clayton-le-Moors club, which split five years ago.
The season has come to a close with the women’s Mid Lancs League team taking the Division 1 title with the men’s team finishing in third place only 11 points behind eventual runners up Blackpool.
In the National Young Athletes League, Hyndburn A.C. clinched promotion by being the second highest overall point scorers throughout the sub leagues and will now compete in Division 1 next season.
Not to be left behind the Hyndburn A.C. Senior Northern League team, which consists of Under 17s and senior athletes also clinched promotion by finishing runners up in their league.
Individually, the athletes from Clitheroe also put in strong performances this season.
At the County Championships, Daniel Cowgill came second in the javelin, Sarah Cowgill second in the discus and Louis Ofoluwa third in the 100m.
At the Mid Lancs Medal meeting Sarah came first in the shot and discus while scoring a silver in the javelin. Daniel also secured a silver in the javelin.
In the Under 15s, Louis finished third in the 100m, 400m and shot while in the Under 13s, Alexa McTiffin achieved bronze in the 800m.
