HAVE you enjoyed watching the Olympics Games over the last couple of weeks?
Has it inspired you to take up a sport?
Clitheroe Lades and Blackburn Men Hockey Club is launching a scheme to get more women and men involved in the game.
The Back to Hockey programme is a national initiative which is aiming to get more than 15,000 women and men back to one of the UK’s most popular Olympic sports.
The Blackburn-based club club will be hosting informal sessions aimed at people who are looking for a great way to stay in shape, have fun in a team environment without needing to commit to ongoing club membership, regular training and competition schedules.
The campaign is backed by the England Hockey Board (EHB), the sport’s official National Governing Body and the Olympic legacy, inspiring a generation.
Coaching coordinator Steve Palmer said: “Anyone who has played hockey knows the sport provides a great workout.
“The new sessions will, we hope, prove incredibly popular with men and women looking for a fun, social way to get fit and stay in shape.”
Back to Hockey starts at Blackburn Northern Sports Club, off Pleckgate Road, BB1 8QA on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 p.m., or if you want to stay longer 7-9 p.m. and will continue every other Wednesday until April 2013.
It is completely free of charge and there is no need to book or have a stick, just turn up and enjoy yourself!
