Ribble Valley Triathlon Club have won a Sportivate bid to hold a six-week course for 11 -25-year-olds,

Sportivate is a Sport England, National Lottery-funded initiative to get more young people taking part in sport regularly.

The sessions will take place from 3-5 p.m., commencing on Saturday, February 8th,

The two-hour sessions will be held in the Castle grounds and focus on bike skills and running fitness.

The sessions are aimed at those who are thinking about getting involved in triathlon, even if they have no knowledge or experience of the sport.

The aim is to get local youngsters to take part in traithlon and enjoy the varied nature of the multi-discipline sport.

With triathlon a massively-growing sport, and with the highlighted profiles of triathletes from the Olympics, there is no better time to start.

The club are looking for 20 participants to enrol on the free six-week course and any parent volunteers are welcome to come along.

Epic Events are hosting a free junior triathlon in April for participants to enjoy, and this will coincide with the annual adult triathlon on April 6th.

On the day, depending upon age, kids will tackle a 25m swim/500m run or 50m swim/1,000m run. The Trikidz event is free to enter and all finishers receive medals.
