With the best back nine was Dave Westwood, who also took home the Seniors’ prize. Club Captain Phil Hammond came third with Chris Hughes a well-deserved fourth.

The winning aggregate team was Dave Clegg, Jean Van Boeckel and Keith Gill.

Anthony Wade won the August Stableford competition on Saturday. Playing off 16, his 42 points gave him a four-point win.

The ladies played their August Medal and Hazel Sellars (105-31-74) just edged Allison Nuttall (96-22-74) into second place with a better back nine, while Linda Clegg took third spot.

A par on the final hole of Clitheroe Golf Club’s Midweek Medal gave Allan Hacking a narrow win after cards with Mike Ranson, both with nett 69s.

Thomas Benson’s 71 took third place after countback with Paul Nightingale.

Ralph Postlethwaite took the best gross with 75.

Sam Geddes had two remarkable nett 70s in the 36-hole Junior Club Championship but had to settle for second behind George Bland.
