CLITHEROE’s Will Murray came home with four gold medals from the English Schools’ Swimming Championships in Liverpool!
Will, a pupil in Year 10 at Bowland High School, and brother of Samantha, who will represent Team GB in modern pentathlon at the Olympics, swept the board at the championships.
He swam in four events, set four English Schools’ records and won four gold medals!
He won the 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m IM relay.
Will’s success qualified him for the British Championships in Sheffield, which started on Monday.
Last week we reported Will’s success at the Inter Divisional Schools Gala, representing the North West region, where he came away with another four gold medals and four new championship records in the junior boys’ 200m junior boys’ freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay, 100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay.
In a busy few weeks, the Clitheroe Dolphins swimmer also stormed to 100m freestyle victory to become regional champion in Manchester for a second successive year.
The 14-year-old also claimed a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle, and recorded three national qualifying times in the 100m, 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
