IT is almost 12 months since Ian Lambert took over the prestigious office of Captain of Clitheroe Golf Club.
office it was Ian’s aim to raise as much money as possible for a worthy cause close to his heart the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
At the beginning of his year Ian set himself a target of raising £2,000. Along with donations on the Justgiving websites the overall total raised this year is just over £5,700, including £1,000 given to the Lady Captain’s charity “Help for Heroes”.
To start the ball rolling Ian undertook a 25-mile sponsored trek visiting six golf clubs who play in the Inter-Town League - Darwen, Pleasington, Blackburn, Accrington and Wilpshire and back to Clitheroe and to make it more difficult he carried his golf clubs. This mammoth trek raise the magnificent amount of £2,163.
A further £2,000 was raised at the Captain’s charity golf day organised by Clitheroe Lions. Making the grand total of £4,163.
“This money has been given not only by club members, but also from other friends and colleagues” was Ian’s proud comment.
“Recently, I was very grateful to Amelia’s for their generous donation after a successful ‘Glitz and Glamour’ evening at the golf club. My thanks are due to everyone who has supported me this year and helped me to raise this money for these charities – I know that they really appreciate our support.”
