Horse rider Brooke Douglas, six, from Clitheroe, became the 2014 Showing Ridden Lead Rein and Veteran Champion at the Nettex Trailblazers Championships at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

The Nettex Trailblazers Championships is a 10-day equestrian extravaganza - the culmination of the hard work put in by every amateur rider that has qualified at over 65 venues throughout the UK.

Brooke and her 17-year-old Grey Welsh Section A pony, Spirit took home two Championships. Spirit has been in the family for around 10 years and came from the Only Foals and Horse Sanctuary, originally as a companion for Brooke’s mother’s horse.

Brooke, who has just finished Year 1 at St Leonard’s School, Billington, has been riding Spirit ever since she could walk. The pair have won the Trailblazers lead rein Championship three years running now. As well as gaining first in the veterans class, Brooke also got a fourth and fifth in her first proper first ridden classes.
