Europe’s hottest golfing prospects failed to shoot down Clitheroe’s Sophie Lamb as she landed the prestigious Fairhaven Trophy in another spectacular start to the season.
The 15-year-old shrugged off competition from a selection of the globe’s Goliaths in the Under 18 tournament which saw entrants contest for honours over 72 holes strokeplay.
The talented teenager shot 78 and 77 in her opening rounds and continued to improve as she fired a par 75 in the penultimate round.
With nine holes remaining Sophie was trailing the leaders but exploded in to action - notching birdies at holes 11, 14, 15, 16 and 17 - to seal a phenomenal one shot victory.
Prior to her latest success, Sophie, who is now playing off scratch, enjoyed top 10 finishes in both the Scottish Girls Championships - where she was chosen to represent England - and the important Hampshire Rose tournament.
Sophie also culminated the Scottish Women’s Championships as the highest ranked Lancashire representative, recording a +7 finish over 54 holes around the Troon links in Ayrshire.
